Get Involved - Why? How? If you share MHEI's mission - to promote hope and understanding about "mental illness"- then we want you to become a member. Be a speaker or work behind the scenes doing a variety of tasks. You will feel good about yourself, have a sense of purpose... You will gain a sense of belonging... You will enjoy the people you meet... You can choose what to do - all the way from being a speaker to doing errands.
Types of tasks: Supervise and support others to do tasks for a project Facilitate others’ learning how to do things Type up documents (word processing) and saving as RTFs Use Excel or other program for bookkeeping Make/edit United Way’s volunteer website listings Do website design and maintenance Do desktop publishing Help to make plans and find ways to implement those plans Be a speaker, artist, or other kind of presenter Keep group on agenda, on task, feeling good Write articles for newsletter Write up meeting minutes Write proposals for projects/funding Write reports Write up agendas Make phone calls Make photocopies Find missing contact information Maintain/improve databases of contact information and more Make flyers for events Make brochure designs Do errands Find a drop-in office space for us to use during workdays and/or early evening |
